Connect your Drive

The file you need is somewhere in your Drive, and finding it means clicking through folders. Connect Google Drive or OneDrive, and Tatsu can find it, read it and bring a copy into your Library, where answers point to the exact line.

Steps

Step 1 of 6

Whole drive or picked files, read in place or copied

An app that works with your drive asks for one of two kinds of access: every file, or only the files you open with it or it creates. Google treats access to every file as restricted and checks those apps more strictly; it recommends the narrower kind for most apps. Tatsulok asks Google for both: to read any file you ask about, and to change only the files it creates with you.

The second choice is where the file is read. Reading it in place is quick, and suits a Google Doc, a Slides file or a small text file. A copy in your own library can also hold a PDF or an Office file, and it can be searched again later and cited down to the line, but you need to know whether it stays up to date when the original changes.

What Tatsu can do

  • Search your Drive or OneDrive, and read a Google Doc, a Slides file or a small text file in place when you ask. A number then opens the file in your Drive; once you import it, a number opens the exact line.
  • Bring a file or a whole folder from Google Drive or OneDrive into your Library: up to 200 files per run, three folder levels deep. Ask again to continue a large folder.
  • Keep a copy from Google Drive up to date when the original changes. A Google Doc or Slides file saved as a PDF is a snapshot; save it again after it changes.
  • Save a Google Doc or Slides file into your Library as a PDF, keeping its layout.

What Tatsu cannot do

  • Keep OneDrive copies up to date. Import the file again after it changes.
  • Import a file larger than 15 MB, or files more than three folder levels down. Import a deep folder in parts.
  • Copy your whole Drive. It reads and imports only what you ask for.

How it fits with your Library, memory and apps

An imported file joins your Library, so later answers cite it without opening Drive again, the same as a file you upload: see Answer from your files. Tatsu can also attach it to an email draft, as in Draft a reply and send it. Tell Tatsu which folders hold which work, and it remembers. Figures from an imported invoice can become rows in an app you keep.

You stay in charge

  • Tatsu asks before it moves a file to your Drive's trash or the OneDrive recycle bin.
  • A copy you import is yours: it stays in your Library until you delete it, even if you delete the original.
  • Disconnecting a Google account disconnects its mail, Drive and Calendar together. Your Library copies stay.

Privacy

  • Google Drive: Tatsulok can view and download your Drive files, so Tatsu can find, read and cite them, and it can change only the files it creates with you.
  • OneDrive: Tatsulok can read and write your files, so Tatsu can find and read them, create new files without overwriting yours, and move a file when you ask.
  • Text is read out of an imported file by our own extraction service, one of the outside paths named in our privacy policy. The model providers that answer your questions commit to no training and to keeping none of your content afterwards.
  • Your Google data is never used for advertising.

Questions

Can Tatsu see every file in my Drive?
In Google Drive it can read any file when you ask, and it changes only files it created with you. In OneDrive it can read and write your files, and it asks before it moves one to the recycle bin.
How many files can I import at once?
Up to 200 files per folder import, three folder levels deep, each up to 15 MB. Ask again to continue; files already in your Library are skipped.
If I change the file in my Drive, does my copy change?
For Google Drive, yes: Tatsulok checks for changes every 30 minutes, or up to about 2.5 hours apart while nothing changes, and refreshes the copy. A Google Doc or Slides file saved as a PDF is a snapshot; save it again after it changes. For OneDrive, import it again after it changes.
Why does Google say the app is unverified?
Google shows that screen while its review of an app that reads Drive files is not finished. Choose Advanced, then the link to continue to Tatsulok.
Do I have to connect Gmail too?
No. Each card asks for its own permission, so you can connect Drive without your mail.
