Citations you can open: the exact line, on its page

A citation is only useful if you can open it and read what it says. In Tatsulok, tapping a citation shows the exact line it came from, on the page of the source. You can try it on a real paper on our public page, without an account.

What does a tapped citation show you?

A citation that opens a card with a title and a short snippet tells you where an answer came from. It does not tell you whether the answer says what the source says. Tatsulok goes one step further: for a document, the card shows the verbatim line and the page it sits on, so you read the sentence itself.

That difference is the whole point. You check the claim against the words, not against a summary of them.

You ask

How does this paper define hallucination, and what happened when they combined instruction-based refusal with a structural gate?

Tatsulok answers

The authors treat hallucination as a misclassification at the output boundary: the model emits internally generated text as if it were grounded in evidence . They distinguish evidence-backed generation (supported by the user's data, retrieved passages, or citations) from prior-only generation . Combining instruction-based refusal with a structural abstention gate reached 96-98% accuracy and 0-4% hallucination across the models they tested .

Why did touch screens miss it?

A citation card that only opened on hover never opened for someone on a touch screen. Tapping did nothing, so a phone or tablet reader had no way to check a source. In August a fix made a tap open the card, with the source title, a snippet and its favicon. Document citations work the same way.

Try it on a real paper, without signing in

Our public page runs an answer on a real paper: Hintsanen (2026), published under a CC BY 4.0 licence. Tap a citation and the line it came from opens, with the paper's page. The other tabs on that page show the same behaviour on other kinds of files.

What to check when a citation does not open

If a citation does not open the line you expected, do not trust the answer on that point yet. Open the source yourself, find the sentence, and decide. A citation you cannot open is a claim you have not checked.

FAQ

What happens when I tap a citation in Tatsulok?
The citation opens its source. For a document, that is the verbatim line and the page it sits on, so you can read the sentence the answer relied on, not only a summary of it.
Can I try citations without an account?
Yes. The public page runs an answer on a real, openly licensed paper, and tapping a citation there opens the line it came from.
Do citations work on a phone?
Yes. Tapping a citation opens the preview with the source title, a snippet and the source's favicon.
Is a citation the same as a verified answer?
No. A citation shows where an answer came from. Verify the claim by reading the sentence it points to, which a tapped citation makes possible.
Why show the page number?
A page number lets you find the same sentence in the original file without searching, and it tells you where to look in a long document.
